The season:
The 2000 season was a year of extremes. Spring brought us an “early-summer-climate” and we had to hurry up to manage all the vineyard work. A rainy period arrived just in time when our Chardonnay was flowering, the result a wonderful poor fruit set! Summer offered consistently rain and ensured the water supply. For a sane fruit production a strict plant protection was essential.
The harvest:
Unfortunately there was no late summer in September. There were some warm and sunny days, but rain was not missing, too. Though there was the rain at harvest time we decided not to panic and waited until the fruits had its aromatical ripeness. Finally we picked a Müller-Thurgau with 100°Oe, admittedly too much, but unfortunately time for harvesting was missing…..
