The season:
The 2002 season started cool with higher-than-average spring rainfall. We adjusted ourselves of a difficult vintage like 2001 and 2000. Summer time continued with rainy periods. A very strict deleafing and reducing the crop more than once was neccessary to preserve the fruits of botrytis. So the fruits could ripen slow and evenly.
The harvest
A great challenge for us and our pickers! 2002 seemed to be one of the most excitung vintages of our history. Everybody here was complaining about the rain and damaged unripe fruits. Due to our green harvest we have removed the damaged fruit in time. The remaining sane crop could ripen perfeclty full of taste and fruity flavours with a present acidity.
2002, a low crop vintage, offered us vines with intense fruit characters and minerality.
