The year had started quite normal. Fruit set was slightly higher and we had to do quite a lot of green harvest, mostly halfing our grapes.
September started nicely cool. We were prepared for a slow ripening period and late harvest.
But then it all started very fast. A wet weekend at the end of september, followed by a high pressure zone with foggy mornings and hot afternoons made us jump. We had to rush in our harvest and save as much grapes as possible from a botrytis attack.
So we left some of the botrytis infected grapes hanging in the vineyard and at the end of october we could pick them as a shriveled “Trockenbeerenauslese”.
All in all a great year.
